Maria Hernandez

Maria Hernandez, 79, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born December 23, 1946, in Austin, Texas, Maria was the beloved daughter of Gregoria Guerrero Cisneros and Cleto Cisneros. She will be remembered as a devoted, faithful, inspirational, and patient presence in the lives of all who knew her.

In her earlier years, Maria built a life rooted in care for others. She worked as a nanny and lovingly cared for numerous children who later became lifelong family friends, reflecting the steady compassion and commitment that defined her throughout her life.

Maria was married to Juan Manuel Hernandez. Maria was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Orona.

Maria is survived by her spouse, Juan Manuel Hernandez; children: son Roy I. Villarreal Jr., and his wife Isla, and son Mario C. Orona, daughter, Shila Cuevas and her husband Mario “Koko”; her step-sons, Marcos Hernandez, Adan Hernandez, and Manuel Hernandez; as well as 24 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A faithful woman in every sense, Maria loved God and her family above all things. She volunteered at Glad Tidings, and wherever she went, she took every opportunity to plant seeds of God—preaching, praying, and offering encouragement with an inspirational spirit that touched many lives.

Maria’s life was a reflection of God’s love for her family, friends and anyone that she encountered.
