Martin Torres

Martin is a native of Bluetown, Texas. As a young man he served in the U.S. Army, returning to the Rio Grande Valley where he would later meet and marry his wife of 63 years, Evila C Torres. Martin & Evila resided in La Feria, Texas where they raised their family. Martin made a career with several bus lines working for Valley Transit, Continental Trailways and Greyhound retiring in 1996 with over a million miles driven. After retirement, Martin & Evila relocated to Austin, Texas where they spent much time with their children and grandchildren.

Martin is survived by his loving family; his wife, Evila C. Torres; his daughter, Norma Echavarria (Ernesto) and his son, Daniel Torres (Leticia); his grandchildren, Crystal Echavarria-Hyden (Reagan), Jaclyn Schaefer (Michael), Daniel E. Torres and Leslie Torres; and his great-grandchild, Eveyln Echavarria-Hyden, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

Martin is preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo & Maximiana Torres and his siblings Angela Pena, Pedro, Miguel, Adolfo and Antonio Torres.

Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. IH-35 Pflugerville, Texas 78660, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary starting at 7 PM. Funeral Service will be held in the Walden Room of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 with the committal service immediately following at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
