Mary Cortez Aleman

Mary Cortez Aleman, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend was born August 24, 1939 in Austin, Texas to Pedro and Severa (Knight) Cortez and passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving mother to her eight children, 20 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren who also enjoyed word puzzles, gardening, and taking care of her home. She loved to go on walks, exercising, and reading as that was her favorite pastime. After her retirement from Solectron, she enjoyed being a housewife.

Mary is survived by her children, Michael Aleman, Jr. and wife, Patsy; Martin Aleman and wife, Donna; Gabriel Aleman; Melissa Ramos and husband, Robert; Josie Ramos, Amanda Govea; and Abigail Aleman; her 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, surviving siblings, Jesse Ortiz, Carmen Cortez, Antonio Cortez and Pete Cortez; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 65 years, Mike S. Aleman who passed on June 2, 2022; her son, Anthony R. Aleman and her 14 siblings, and her parents, Pedro and Severa Cortez.

Serving as pallbearers will be Don Michael Aleman, Eric Aleman, Robert Aleman Ramos, Andrew Ramos, Fernando Aleman, Marc Aleman, with Shelby Abbott serving as an honorary pallbearer.

A visitation for Mary will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Saint Albert the Great Catholic Church, 12041 Bittern Hollow, Austin, Texas 78758. A committal service will occur Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
