Mary Ann "Nena" Serna Hernandez

Mary Ann “Nena” Hernandez was called home by our Heavenly Father on March 6, 2012. She was born in Traverse City, Michigan, on August 1, 1953. She spent her childhood traveling across the US as the daughter of migrant workers. Nena graduated from Lamesa High School in 1971. She married her high school sweetheart, Eloy Hernandez, on August 26, 1972. She was blessed to be “Mommy” to Krystal and Marisol Hernandez. Nena was a devoted wife and mother. She established a successful career in the corporate world and at the time of her death was Chief Financial and Operating Officer of TALHO, the Texas Association of Local Health Officials in Austin, Texas.

Nena is survived by her husband of 40 years, Eloy Hernandez, her two daughters, Krystal and Marisol Hernandez, her parents Judge Guillermo and Marcelina Serna, sisters Lucia Serna, Alice Serna and life partner Lisa McDougald, Sara Serna and brothers Steve Serna, John Serna, Gabriel Serna and wife, Jayne; brother-in-law Hector Hernandez and wife Mary, sister-in-law Diana Hernandez, several nieces and nephews and her best friends, neighbors and sister of the heart Denise and husband Jim Hubbard. She was preceded in death by her brother, Willie Serna, Jr., and brother-in-law Marcelino Hernandez, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation to be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, with rosary and prayer services beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 1520 N. Railroad Ave.,Pflugerville.
