

Vibrant, forthright, conscientious, and undeniably funny. An enthusiast of the Indiana poet, Robert Frost. She held close to her heart his verse, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by and that has made all the difference.” She treasured classical music, gardening, literature, travel, the arts, and theater. She aspired to become a concert pianist. She was raised in a German family and lived the farm life in southern Indiana. Known as Grammaw Mary Jane, Meta Cheta, Grammaw RedBall, and MJD she was also known as Grammaw Sea Dew to her Alaskan friends.
Formerly a novice to become a nun when she felt called by God to become a nurse for crippled children. She was an RN graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing, 1954. She held education in high regard. Born March 15, 1932 in St. Phillips, Indiana, raised her children near Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana and moved to Texas in 1994. She resided in Austin, Texas upon her death.
She dedicated hours meditating and memorizing scripture and earnestly praying for her family. Today her children have all benefited from her spiritual devotion and prayer life.
She was preceded in death by her spouses David L. Dalgleish III, William Overstreet and Alfred LeBlanc. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olivia, and Joseph Wolf, 5 siblings, 3 brothers Joe, Arthur and Paul and 2 sisters Delores and Pauline.
She is survived by her 4 children, Catherine Marie Dalgleish, David Laidley Dalgleish IV (Sherry), Alexander Scott Dalgleish (Margaret), Benjamin Lee Dalgleish (Melody), 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, all residents of Texas, except one is in Virginia.
