Mary Valles Rios made the transition to her heavenly home on June 18, 2026. She was born in Austin, Texas, on December 1, 1936. She was the daughter of Jose Valles and Candelaria Villanueva Valles and had three siblings, Anita, Joe, and Pete, who had preceded her passing.
Mary was married to Alex M. Rios for 49 years, who is now in heaven rejoicing with her and welcoming her home. Her strength came from the love she had for her family and close friends. We truly believe she held on to life tightly in her later years to continue her story with special moments. She was a homemaker for many years, a labor of love for her husband and three children. She enjoyed making her home of over 50 years a cozy dwelling by decorating for each season and paying attention to each detail in every room. Making sure that whoever paid a visit enjoyed it as much as she did. She collected special mementos from all her children and family.
Dancing, and the love of music were something she shared with her husband. Dancing on a night out or at the many family gatherings they attended or held at their home was one of her favorites.
Mary was also a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and more. She touched many lives with her humor, conversation, and welcoming personality. An unforgettable person who made a way straight to your heart. When giving advice, her favorite quote was “Life is what you make it”
She is survived by her children: son, Alex Rios Jr. (wife, Connie); son, Richard David Rios; daughter, Lori Rios Torres; and bonus daughter, Priscilla Gage (husband Gene); grandchildren, Alex C. Rios, Lawrence R. Torres (wife Grindelia), Edward A. Castro, and Brent Dodson. And she is also survived by her great grandbabies, Sophie, Abel, Matthew, Adriana, Amaya, Alexa, and Dayson; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family is forever grateful for the loving care that was given to her by Jordan/RN and Sierra/Social Worker of her home hospice care provider. They went above and beyond.
