She is survived by her husband of 24 years, David Flores; mother, Consuelo (Connie) Cañas; brother, Adrian Cañas, sister, Gloria Cañas Lara and her husband Benjamin; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Krishock and husband Patrick, and Christine Lewis and husband, Romon. She is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, Benjamin Jr. and Hillary Lara, Marissa and Alyssa Cañas, Connor and Liam Krishock, and Paloma Lewis.
Melva was preceded in death by her daughter, Julia Izabelle Flores; her father, Pedro (Pete) Cañas Jr., and her grandmother, Trinidad B. Rangel.
Melva was an amazing woman who cared deeply for others and for her family. She was a generous, beautiful, and sweet woman who was loved by all. She will be missed beyond measure and will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 1520 N. Railroad Avenue, Pflugerville. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery close to her beloved daughter, Julia.
Pallbearers will include: Benjamin Lara, Benjamin Lara Jr., Raymond Garcia, Jesse Lara, Cesar Acosta, and Romon Lewis.
Due to the current COVID protocols, guests are required to wear protective face masks at all times and practice the recommended six foot social distancing.
