Michael was born on October 10, 1954 in Taylor, Texas to Joe and Shirley Nemec. He lived and worked most of his life in Austin, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Kathleen Gayla Nemec. After retiring from his job with the Texas Military Facilities Commission in 2004, he enjoyed spending time with his wife of 42 years, family, and friends.
Michael is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Sarah Latzel and husband Michael and granddaughters Ella Grace and Claire Elizabeth; son, Stephen Nemec and wife Ashley Sue and granddaughter, Tristen Elise; son, John Calvin Jayroe and grandson, Justin Christopher; sister, Cheryl Cox and niece, Nicole Elizabeth.
If you asked Michael’s family what made him the incredible father, grandfather, and friend that they knew him to be, they would tell you that it was the vast love and friendship he demonstrated on a daily basis to those around him. He didn't know a problem he wouldn't try to help you solve.
The family gives their sincerest thanks to the staff of both Austin Cancer Center and Beacon Hospice of Austin.
