She was the second of four children. A playmate and confidant to them, but definitely her own person. She hated wearing dresses to school at a time that it was required. Afterschool meant changing into overalls, and then it was off to outside adventures with her brother.
At the age of 16 Myrna became one of Jehovah's Witnesses, by dedicating her life to Jehovah God and symbolizing it by water baptism. Her faith was important to her. She enjoyed speaking about her faith to others, and studying the Bible; increasing her knowledge of the Bible, and her appreciation for God.
Myrna graduated from Peru High School in 1954. She then went right into the workforce at the same factory as her father and brother. Later the owner of a local diner she frequented introduced her to Dan Leonard, a North Carolina native, stationed at nearby Grissom Air Force Base. They were married June 29, 1956, and settled in the Fairmount, IN area, later moving to the Austin, TX area in 1986.
Myrna and Dan went on to have five children, spaced out over 17 years. Because this spacing made 2 groups, they joked they had 2 families. Throughout this time, sometimes she was a stay at home "old school"- no nonsense mom, who was also an excellent cook. Sometimes it was necessary to go back into the workforce. Whether at a factory, sales clerk, running her own cleaning business, or providing bait worms to a bait shop, she was always a hard worker at home and at the job, and knew how to stretch a dollar. She always tried to instill a hard work ethic into her children. Myrna finally retired in 1997 from Dilliard's Department Store.
With all that, Myrna had little time for hobbies. But always tried to set priorities: her relationship with her God, Jehovah, caring for her family, and if anytime left, some love for her pets.
Myrna is survived by her husband of 65 years Dan Leonard (Manor, TX).
