Myrna was born in Lubbock, Texas, to Margie F. (Morrison) Gilbert and Wilber D. Gilbert. She was one of seven children in a lively and close-knit family that included a set of triplets.
On January 4, 1957, she married Jerome Stanley Myhre. Throughout his military career, she faithfully accompanied him on assignments around the world, including extended stays in England and Germany. Together, they lovingly adopted two children, Michael and Sheryl, and built a life centered on family, devotion, and shared experiences. Their marriage endured for 56 years, until Jerome’s passing in 2013.
Myrna found joy in putting together puzzles and spending time playing Mexican Train Dominos and Canasta with family and friends. She was also a talented knitter and crocheter who poured love into every stitch. Nearly everyone who knew her was lucky enough to receive one of her handmade washcloths or coosie—a small but heartfelt reminder of her kindness and thoughtfulness.
Myrna was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; her son, Michael; her parents; and four of her six siblings: Nita, Kay, Cindy, and Charles. She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl; five grandchildren: Kevin, Shawna, Kimberly, Michaela, and Zach; five great-grandchildren: Titus, Lila, Willow, Wesley, and Tate; her sister, Jeane; and her brother, Donnie.
Myrna's funeral services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown, TX. Visitation will begin at 9 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10 AM. Family and friends are invited to a reception at the church after the service. Burial will follow at 1 PM at Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
