OBITUARY

Myrtle E. Haynes

September 20, 1922March 5, 2018

Myrtle E. Haynes was born in Tyler, Texas on September 20, 1922 to the parents of Lula Mae Rose and Curtis Nelson. She was the middle sister of Alistine N. Rose Lacy and Opal E. Edwards. Myrtle graduated from Emmit J. Scott High School in 1940.

Myrtle met, fell in love with, and married Max Haynes in 1942. They moved to California where they lived for over 60 years. Myrtle was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for a majority of her life. Seeing the happiness pioneering brought to others motivated her into joining the pioneering ranks where she served for 25 years. She became a spiritual mother to many. Her motto was “first of the day, first of the month, first of the year, and by the year’s end you’ll have your time.” She was an inspiration to many!

In addition to her pioneering, Myrtle was known for her immaculate housekeeping; many would often say, “Her floors were so clean you could eat off of them!”

Myrtle leaves behind her daughter Imogene H. Gilmore, grandsons Jonathan E. Gilmore and Brandon N. Gilmore, great grandchildren Kassia T. Gilmore and Max J. Gilmore of Austin, Texas. A brother Joe Nelson of Sherman, Texas. A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends she dearly loved.

The Celebration of Life service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in The Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas with a committal service to follow in Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
