Nathaniel was born on November 20, 1947 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Paul Powe and Lena Mae (Neal) Powe. Nathaniel was a Veteran having served with the United States Air Force achieving the rank of Senior Master Sargent. He retired from the Travis Country Sherriff’s Department as Sargent after 21 years of service. Nathaniel was a hardworking, honest and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many. He can be forever remembered for his love of faith, family, friends, his generosity, one of kind sense of humor and of course his smile. He enjoyed flying and traveling whenever possible. He was passionate about his faithful companion, Max, his deep love of anything chocolate, many special Christmases and may have been known as the World’s Largest Pittsburgh Stealers Fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Nathaniel married Barbara Horger on February 14th in 2011.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his brother Dr. Alton Powe of Pittsburgh, his sister Pauline Tyler of Virginia Beach, his sons, Nathaniel Powe, Jr. and his wife Lori Powe of Greensboro, North Carolina, Robert Powe of Charlotte, North Carolina, Shawn Powe and his wife Tara Powe of Greenville, North Carolina; step children, Debbie & Jacqui Reynolds of Austin, Michael France and his wife Melinda Hinkle Brasher of Round Rock, Kim Isbell and her husband Frank Isbell of California; grandchildren, Nathaniel Powe III, Judah Powe, Brittany & Cameron Isbell, as well as many extended family members and close friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by James Powe.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Nathaniel’s son, Shawn Powe, will be officiating. A reception for family and friends will take place immediately following the services at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 10:15 a.m., where military honors will be afforded.
