

She married Woodie Kirkland on February 7, 1947 and they had twin sons and one daughter. Neva and Woodie were married for 56 years. They had five grandchildren.
Neva loved her family and was a devoted Christian. She always did for others before doing for herself. She was a housewife for several years and was always involved in helping and raising her children. She was a leader in the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and always loved going to the lake and teaching all her children and nephews how to swim and water ski.
She later went to work in the cafeteria of Travis High School, Gibson Department Store and Motorola.
Neva is preceded in death by her husband, Woodie Kirkland, son-in-law, Charles Calhoun, and grandson, Stephen Kirkland. She is survived by her brother, Gerry and wife Cheryl McNett and sister, Mary Lea and husband William Shoemaker of San Antonio, Texas; twin sons, Ronald Kirkland and Donald and wife Alice Raynea Kirkland of Elgin, Texas; daughter, Gail Calhoun and fiancé Jackie Glidewell of Elgin, Texas; grandchildren, Jeff and wife Tamara Calhoun and Tammy and husband Danny Davis of Smithville, Candice and Kelsea Calhoun of Elgin, and Jessi and Colbi Davis of Smithville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
