Nora Lee was born in the Richland community in Travis County to Gus and Elnora Melber on May 6, 1932. She attended Richland schools and graduated from Austin High School. She was a proud "Maroon". She married Joe Birdwell October 9, 1949. She worked for Municipal Advisory Council for 41 years and retired in 2016 after suffering from a stroke. She was a faithful member of Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ for 62 years. She enjoyed bible study, traveling, gardening and hosting friends and family in her home. She also loved singing and dancing and enjoyed her time performing with the Round Rock Community Choir. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed supporting them at their activities. You would often find her at the softball field, tennis court, concert hall or wherever they were, and she was one of the loudest in the "cheering section".
She is proceeded in death by son Glenn Birdwell, granddaughter Hillary Robinett, brothers Wilburn “Sonny” Melber and Milton Melber, and special longtime friend Albert Amezquita.
Nora Lee is survived by son Dale Birdwell, daughter Terri Beck and husband Jim, daughter Conni Robinett and husband David, daughter in-law Jeri Birdwell, sister Junell Paul and husband Leroy, sister Lillian Mueller, grandchildren Blake Birdwell and wife Sophie, Tyson Birdwell, Tiffany Birdwell, Steven Law and Evin Cooper, Adam Law, Aubri Clements, Jessica Leal, Jordan Clements, Morgan Clements and Allison Robinett, great grandchildren Tristan Brooks, Marian Law, Josey Law, Bridger Birdwell, Isabella Leal, Adrian Leal and Tayler Painter.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the many church friends, neighbors and Hendrick Hospice Care. Special thanks to Libby Weed, a dear friend to Mom.
