Norman E. Weiss

January 12, 1930June 11, 2018

God took Norman E. Weiss, 88, of Pflugerville to his heavenly home on June 11, 2018. He was born in Pflugerville on January 12, 1930.

Norman graduated from Pflugerville High School in 1947. He married the love of his life, Virginia (Israel) Weiss, November 10, 1951. After serving in the Marine Corps for 2 years, he returned home for a dedicated career as a farmer and rancher, where he was the best weatherman around. He was a baptized, confirmed, and lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching sports, pampering his dog, Raisin, and spending time with family and loved ones. When he could no longer do the farm work himself, he continued to supervise his children to make sure the job was done right.

He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, of 67 years, and three caring children, Keith (Durenda), Gordon (Betty), and Wendy; along with 6 grandchildren, Kevin (Katie) Weiss, Brandi (Paul) Suddeth, Nicole (Jason) Valdez, Heather Byrd, Lindsey (Mike) Scheffler, and Candie Marquis; 11 great grandchildren; a devoted sister, Shirley and husband Otto Werchan; and very dear and loving friend, Kayla Bayless. Norman was predeceased by parents, Marie and Ewald Weiss, his sister, Margie and her husband, Ernest Cherry.

The visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the committal following in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Cemetery Fund or Building Fund of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 500 Immanuel Road, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.

Russell was touched that Norman wanted him to be an honorary pallbearer. His Uncle Norman was a special man and Russell has shared his memories of him with me. Though I only met him a few times Norman always treated me like part of the family from the beginning. I know that Virginia and the rest of the family will miss him dearly.
