Patrick Amado Raymond passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2023 at his home with his beloved wife, Jeannie Raymond (Smith) and loving son, Robert Raymond by his side. Angels took him away early that afternoon to a better place, and even though he is not with us any longer, he will forever be cherished, loved and remembered.
Patrick Raymond was born October 1, 1957 in Laredo, Texas to Rolando Raymond and Amadita Raymond. Laredo is where Patrick was born and raised with his 6 siblings Arthur, David, Roly, Michael, Veronica, and Cynthia, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was a very intelligent, inquisitive, and proud child. He learned how to fish and hunt from his father Rolando during their family trips to their ranch, Los Ebanos Ranch, in Zapata, Texas. It was at the family ranch in Zapata Texas that Patrick learned what it was to be a real man. He learned to provide meat for his family, build fences and structures, the hard work and perseverance it takes to accomplish tasks that better the family.
Patrick and Jeannie married on January 23, 1988 in Austin Texas at the Zilker Park Club House surrounded by family and friends. On that day Patrick wed the love of his life and began moving towards a life that included more than just himself and his love. They enjoyed the married life for 3 years with vacations, nightly outings, and fun with friends before they decided it was time to start a family. On July 3rd, 1991 they gave birth to their only child, their son, Robert Raymond and thus began Patrick’s adventure into fatherhood.
Patrick was an outstanding father, filling his son’s childhood with love and support. Pushing him towards sports to instill a sense of camaraderie with children his age. Teaching him the fundamentals of the hard work and dedication and the value of friendship. Patrick made sure to share how important it is to get involved in community sports because that was how he had met so many of his lifelong friends. Patrick’s words of wisdom came true because many of Roberts teammates that he had in soccer, baseball, and football became just that, lifelong friends. Without Patrick’s advice his son might not have the quality people that choose to be in his life today. Outside of sports, Patrick made sure to foster the creativity and passion his son showed in the more artistic side of life. He was there every step of the way when Robert wanted to learn violin, piano, trombone, and eventually the guitar.
Patrick was the perfect husband to his wife Jeannie. Outside of providing devoted love and attention, he made sure that she was well provided for in every aspect of life, from clothing and dinners, to vacations and quality time. He would make sure her life was easy by fixing things that went wrong regardless of if it was in the emotional spectrum or the physical one. From building planters to help her with her green thumb, to fixing plumbing, electricity, and anything that ever went wrong. Patrick was truly a jack of all trades.
Patrick will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He brought an unparalleled wit and intelligence to any and every occasion. Whether it was bringing laughter to a party or consoling a person who was going through a difficult time, he always knew what to say to make the situation better. His smile and the sparkle in his eyes might be gone from this world, but they will always live on in the minds of his family and friends. Goodbye for now Patrick, we will see you again in a better place.
I will love you until the end of time, my Pato.
