Paul was born on August 11, 1953 in Austin, Texas to the late Vivian Regan McDowell and Gloria (Kasper) McDowell. He was a graduate of Leander High School in Leander, Texas, Class of 1972. Paul has over 33 years of experience in building engineering and maintenance. He worked as a chief Engineer at Barton oaks Plaza IV, a class “A” multi-tenant tower for 15 years. He joined the TIG Central Texas team when TIG was awarded the management contract of Barton Oaks Plaza IV in 2006. Previously Paul worked for 11 years at the Austin Hilton Inn as Director of Engineering Manager on Duty and fiver years as Facility Manager of a semi-conductor plant. He also owned his own painting company “PM Repair Services” doing residential. He is also actively involved in several community service organizations and his church and is a native of the Austin area. He was a member of E-Z Step and 24 Hour Fitness where he worked out at ZUMBA Classes, sometimes 3 times a day resulting in loosing over 100 pounds over a two year span and successfully maintained that weight loss for over 10 years.
Paul was a true “one of kind” he was a man of God and passionate about his faith, family and always known for his positivity. He enjoyed karaoke in his free time in addition to Commercial Painting, Remolding Services, Handy Man Services, Garage Clean Ups as well as Demolition & Hauling. Paul was a loving father, grandfather and friend to many and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul is survived by his 6 children; Pauletta Gomez and her husband Steve, Paul Douglas McDowell, Jr., Nacona McDowell, Tara Wilks and her husband Matthew, Michael Douglas McDowell and his wife Brittany and Jamie Emma Jean McDowell; 8 grandchildren, Joshua McDowell, Gabriella Gomez, Mario Hidalgo, Remington McDowell, Steven Gomez, Lavern Wilks, Megan Wilks, Briley McDowell and Luke McDowell; one great grandson, Zayden Perez; one sister, Lilla McDowell; one uncle, Jimmy McDowell as well as may extended family members and close friends.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Monday, May 27, 2019 at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Pastor David Mclain will be officiating and interment will follow at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas.
Paul’s family will receive friends on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home.
