It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Paul Anthony Zapata, who passed away on February 6, 2025. Mr. Zapata is survived by his wife, Maria Vargas Zapata, and members of the Vargas family.
Paul worked for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission for 25 years. He helped provide individuals with the correct forms and information to qualify for disability. He also worked as a music instructor for the trumpet, which was very rewarding for him. Paul was a founding member of CTMA – Central Texas Musical Arts – which he joined in 2021, and the Bluebonnet Philharmonic Orchestra, for which he was the principal trumpet player.
Paul was known for his quick-witted humor during rehearsals and his calm and supportive presence.
A message of love from Maria Vargas Zapata:
“My husband was a wonderful man, whom I love very much. Memories of our love will forever live in my heart. Our babies, Bodhi, Khaleesi and Gigi, and I love you and miss you very much. Thank you for celebrating Paul’s life and love for music with me.”
A celebration of life and reception for Paul will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
