Pauline Gaitan Castro

Our beloved Pauline Gaitan Castro, 70 years old, passed away on April 11, 2021. She was born Pauline Canizales Gaitan on February 12, 1951 in Taylor, Texas to Bernardino “Nino” and Mary Gaitan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nino and Mary Gaitan; sisters, Martina Gaitan and Frances Lopez; and brothers, Jerry Gaitan and Adon Gaitan.

Pauline is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jose B. Castro; sons, Rene, Henry, Randy Castro; daughter, Amy Castro (Bobby Saathoff); her grandchildren, Ashley Castro (Karen), Henry Castro Jr., Isaac Melendrez, Anthony Castro, Kaitlyn Mendez, Jeremiah Melendrez and Nathan Castro; and special family friend, Johnny Ruiz Jr. She is also survived by her sisters, Lupe Martinez, Josephine Ontiveros, Paz Bocanegra, Della and Joe Perez, Carmen and Gene Sosa, Dolores Ferrales, Rachel and Edward Barron, and Yolanda Luna and her brothers, Larry Gaitan, Albert and Margie Gaitan, Tony Gaitan, Manuel Gaitan and Terry Wendel, Joe and Veronica Gaitan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted mother, sister and friend. Loved by many and missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held at the North Lamar location of Cook-Walden (6100 N. Lamar, Austin, TX 78752) on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. A rosary will be said following the visitation at 7:00 P.M.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, located at 1520 N. Railroad Ave., Pflugerville, TX 78660, with a graveside service, following, at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, located at 14501 N. IH-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Castro/Gaitan family. Pauline was my great Aunt and I will always remember her contagious laughter and how great of a dancer she was with Uncle Joe. She was such a beautiful woman and I will miss her very much.
