On Monday, September 9, 1991, at 5:09 a.m. Phillip Darnell Henton made his entrance into Alfred and Toni Henton’s life, thirty-six (36) minutes ahead of his fraternal twin, Alisa Michelle Henton. He came in with a big appetite for not only food but also life flashing his big grin. As Phillip grew, so did his appetite and thirst. Although his average stature did not represent someone with a big appetite, he was known throughout his family as always first in line to eat.
Phillip’s voracious appetite extended to learning. He excelled in learning as was evident when he started his educational journey at Texas Empowerment Academy and completed it in the Pflugerville ISD.
The ultimate performer, Phillip was a Thespian not only in high school but in Church plays at Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized by Pastor Richard A. Coaxum. Phillip’s shouts of “this water is cold!” will be forever remembered by all who were in attendance on that Sunday. Phillip was an active member of the Youth Ministry, Sunday School, David Ministry, Audio/Visual Ministry, Drama Ministry and Junior Deacons.
Phillip shared a special bond with his fraternal twin sister, Alisa. They not only shared the same date of birth but also a love for “The Boondocks,” Anime, video games and his nephew, Isaiah Broly. He loved to visit various kinds of museums.
Phillip was affectionately known as “twin” and “Stein” and he loved to give hugs to his family and friends. Phillip would take time with his younger cousins, talking with them and encouraging them.
Phillip was preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents, Eurel and Louvenia Henton, Sr.; his maternal grandfather, George W. Caldwell, III; great grandparents: Rev. Phillip and Janie Williams Brown; George and Fannie Mae Tyson Caldwell, Jr.; Eurel “Frank” and Ozell Howard Henton; Horace and Alma Murphy Jones, Sr.
Phillip will forever be remembered by his parents, Alfred and Toni Henton; his sister, Alisa Henton; his nephew Isaiah; maternal grandmother, Dolores Caldwell of San Diego, CA; Aunts: Lisa Caldwell (San Diego, CA), Reta Henton (Los Angeles, CA), Mary Henton (Herbert) (Broussard, LA); and Cynthia Henton (Broussard, LA); Uncles: Ronnie Caldwell (Miyoko) Vallejo, CA, George Caldwell (San Diego, CA) Timothy Henton (Lecompte, LA), Eurel Henton (Diane) Alexandria, LA, Michael Henton (Lecompte, LA), and Dr. Mark Henton (Lisa), Plano, TX; a special great aunt, Dorothy C. Ates; 20 first cousins; and a host of other family and friends.
A visitation for Phillip will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at St Mary's Missionary Baptist Church, 1202 Russell St, Pflugerville, TX 78660. Following the funeral service will be a committal at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
