

Raymond A. Cowan passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, at the age of 88 in Yoakum, Texas. Born on February 13, 1937, in Austin, Texas, Raymond was the cherished son of Raymond Theodore Cowan and Pauline Collins Cowan and grew up in the Four Points area of 2222 and 620 in Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
Raymond married Margaret Eggert Cowan on March 10, 1960, who preceded him in death. He then married Anna Lorene Armstrong on October 8, 2000 in Yoakum, Texas.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Lorene; his daughter, Rhonda (John) Ambrose and his son, Raymond (Jeanette) Cowan and two stepdaughters, Carol (Terry) Boening and Judy (Tommy) Srp; as well as his cherished grandchildren Caleb (Mallory), Kelsey, Lee (Gospi), Ann-Marie, Tammy, Barry (Tara), Cara (Derek), Julianna (Martin), and Elizabeth (Dustin). Also, his great-grandchildren, Ella, Brody, Blake, Sawyer, Ty, Saylor, Logan, Emma, Barrett, and Ainsley.
Raymond joined the United States Air Force in 1954. He began his carpenter career after joining the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Union #1266.
Raymond’s life was marked by devotion and love. He enjoyed the outdoors (riding horses, fishing, hunting, and just walking in the woods). He always looked forward to playing his harmonica and guitar for church services and sing-a-longs with family and friends. He never met a stranger and would share his Christian faith with everyone.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. The funeral service will follow the visitation and begin at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Frankie Smith officiating. Following the service, Raymond will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
