

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 24, 1948. On March 18, 1990, he married Sarah (Stern) Haan. He was a member of the Catholic church and had a passion for family, politics, motorcycles, movies and books. He was a Vietnam veteran and served two tours during the war. He loved Jesus and was a loving and caring father and husband.
He loved animals, movies, books, and life. Overall, his family was his entire being and what he lived for. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and was one of the very first people to ever surf the net. He was very hardworking and dedicated. He worked as a tile-setter and in flooring and was a truck driver, but was most proud of his work as a father.
He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Anthony Coppeto and his brother, Russell Haan. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Sarah; sons, Eric Scott Haan and Stephen Michael Haan; daughter, Dana Marie Haan; and siblings, Sharon Synder, Patricia Krpan, Larry Haan, and Julie Niedermeier.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
