Richard Lane Holloway

Richard was a gentle sole deeply loved by his entire family. Football was his favorite sport and he was a huge Cowboys fan. He bought and sold collectables and especially loved going on trips to toy shows with his brother, Charly. He worked for 35 years for Borden’s Dairy before retiring due to his health.

Never married, he took joy in family gatherings and in the company of his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He kindly shared much advice with all the parents which we acknowledged with a smile and nod. Much like his Dad, he had an opinion on everything and there was no persuading him to any other side. In recent years Rick was a great comfort to his mother; doing his best to making sure she was safe, happy, and healthy. He was generous and willing to help anyone in need, never asking for anything in return. Many times he went without personal pleasures in pursuit of the care of his loved ones. We will all miss him greatly.

Preceding him in death were his father, Cecil Earl Holloway and his sister, Tammi Jo Holloway Williams. He is survived by his mother Addie Jo Holloway; sister, Dianne Soefje and her husband Otto; brothers, Rod Holloway and his wife Brenda McAtee Holloway, and Charly Holloway and his wife Brenda Brown Holloway; nieces and nephews, Leigh Anne Brady, Janna Soefje, Shawn Holloway, Eric Holloway, Dr. Cristie Jones, Kiko Williams, Zach Williams, Brian Holloway, and Sarah Holloway; great nieces and nephews; and his loving cousins.

The family would like to express our huge appreciation for the kind and loving care Rick was given by the staff at the Hearthstone Nursing Home. They were especially good to him in many ways adding much joy to this past year for him.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home; burial will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, all in Pflugerville.
