October 25, 1921February 12, 2019

Robert Hilton Kenny, also known as “MR BOB” the clown, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 12, 2019 at the age of 97. Bob lived in Austin but was originally from Pittsburgh, PA and was a true Steelers fan. He was a food salesman for Kraft Foods for over 30 years. He and his wife, Evelyn (Kyser) moved to Austin after both had retired.

Bob was a WWII veteran and was a B-17 Flight Engineer with the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron. He was a member of the VFW Post 8787 and that began his legacy of “Mr. Bob” the clown. You could always see Mr. Bob in the Veteran’s Day Parade on Congress Avenue. The red nose of Mr. Bob has been worn by family and friends in his honor in numerous events throughout the year. Everyone who knew him shared his love of life and laughter.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Evelyn and his daughter Mo Kamerer. He is survived by his children Robert (Barb) Kenny, Richard (Mary) Kenny, Eileen (Michael) Farris, along with his grandchildren Kelly (Julie Fielder) Kamerer, Beth (Bob) Priest, Geoff (Natalie) Kenny, Jennifer (Mark) Kidd, James (Katherine) Farris, and nine great-grand children.

A celebration of his life will be held at the VFW Post 8787 on VFW Road, Austin, on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 1:30pm.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the VFW Post 8787, 500 VFW Road, Austin, TX 78753.

I will always remember the first time that I met Uncle Boobie. Easter, 1972. David took me to Pittsburgh to meet the family. At Easter dinner he smashed the butter into my hand. I’m certain that there are many out there that experienced the same thing. He could make everyone laugh. Especially his sister-in-law, Esther, David’s mother. He would bring her to tears. Now they are laughing together again with Aunt Evie, Mo & Joanne. We will truly miss him, but will see him again. ❤️❤️
