Robert McDowell

Born October 23, 1924, in Venice, Illinois, Robert was the son of Henry and Eva (Hand) McDowell. A 20 year veteran and a retiree of the U.S. Army, Mr. McDowell also served in the Merchant Marines. After his retirement, Robert worked for the Veterans Administration and the U.S Postal Service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rhea (Campbell) McDowell; his sons, Robert Paul McDowell, Jr. & wife, Charryn and Gary McDowell & wife, Pam; his grandchildren, Jeremy Lindholm, Manndie McDowell, Carole McDowell, Shawn McDowell and Cristen Dry Calvert. He has 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services for will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Burial with full military honors will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2011, at the Capital Parks Funeral Home.

We would like to thank Hospice Services Nurse Shelly Baker, Nurse Barbara Townsend and caregivers, Valerie Frederick and Mindy Ponder. Without their constant help, loving care and support, we would not have our husband, dad, and grandfather for as long as we did.
