He attended Sherman High School where he was an outstanding football player. He chose to enlist into the United States Army and proudly served his country. After a brief reunion back home he ventured up to Michigan. There he spent his working years in manufacturing starting at the bottom and worked himself up to Plant Manager of multiple facilities in which he made countless life long friendships with amazing people. Roland had a gift for meeting people, making new friends and could always tell a good story.
First Baptist Church in Pflugerville enriched his life and brought him joy and happiness in their generous congregation. Their prayers and encouragement elevated his spiritual growth and his fight with cancer. Surviving are his beautiful and caring wife Sandra of 57 years, his son Shawn, who he was so proud of and loving daughter-in-law Sondra. He was blessed with four grand children Bryce, Trevor, Shea and Madison, his pride and joy. He was an amazing uncle and always tried to add happiness to their lives. Roland was preceded in death by his brothers Roger (Boots) Dillon and Eugene (Louise) Dillon his sisters Ladena Dillon, Eva Mae (Chuck) Nabil and Lula Belle (Donnie) Kile with his surviving younger sister Janice (David) Cabell all of whom he cherished.
He will be forever missed knowing he was loved. We will hold our memories of him deep in our hearts.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas 76542.
