Ron graduated from USC in 1955 with a degree in Accounting. He worked as an Auditor with Price Waterhouse of Los Angeles and on the Controllers Staff of North American Aviation’s Atomics International division.
In 1959, Ron relocated to Denver, CO to be closer to his sister, Julia Kasch, and her family. He found work at Western Federal Savings & Loan, a large and growing Denver S&L. Working on the due diligence staff for the potential acquisition of Brighton Federal Savings & Loan in Brighton, CO, Ron was appointed as the Branch Manager for the potential acquisition. During the due diligence phase, Western Federal decided to pass on the acquisition. But they recommended that Ron become the permanent Manager at Brighton Federal. The board accepted the recommendation.
From 1967 through 1983, Ron worked at Brighton Federal rising to President and Chairman of the Board, and growing the organization from $5 million of net worth to over $108 million dollars. Brighton Federal contributed significantly to Brighton, CO’s growth as a community, funding the expansion of the local Hospital, local Nursing homes, medical clinics, churches, assisted living facilities, planned development communities, and thousands of homes in the Brighton area.
In 1962, Ron met and married Reva McLain in Denver, CO. Ron and Reva worked side by side during their marriage of 57 years, resulting in two children, James Lester Money and Julia Estelle Jones. Upon retirement from Brighton Federal in 1983, Ron and Reva retired to Austin, TX in order to be closer to Reva’s family.
Ron was active in the Gideons International, Rotary International, and the churches wherever he lived.
Ron is survived by his sister, Julia Ann Kasch; wife, Reva Money; son, James Money (wife Haydee); daughter, Julia Jones (husband Alan); grandchildren, Kaitlyn Jones, Braiden Jones (wife Jessica), Jordan Jones (fiancée Carlee), Cathryn Jones, Sarah Money, and David Money.
Mom and Dad have been supporting a missionary family through YWAM Organic for several years. After speaking with Mom and my sister Julia, we are asking that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to would lend their support to the same missionary family. As the missionaries are truly located in dangerous areas of the world, only the number of the missionary is used during the donation process. However, the missionary does send a monthly update about their activities.
