

Ronald Lee Russell, age 70, of Pflugerville, passed away in the company of his wife and children on April 5, 2015. Ronald was born to Gilbert and Bernadine (Schneider) Russell on December 11, 1944 in Peoria, Illinois.
Ronald was a retired Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Army. He served his country dutifully and honorably for 32 years. During his service he fought in the Vietnam War, and it was during his tour in Korea that he met the love of his life, Sun Hui Russell, whom he was faithfully married to for 38 years. Early in his Army career he completed his academic studies earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Maryland and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Oklahoma. After completing his service in the US Army, Ronald began his 17 year career working for the University of Texas at Austin where he later earned the title of Senior Information Technology Manager at the Bureau of Economic Geology.
Ronald will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. His children greatly admire him for his dedication to his endeavors, commitment to his family, and selfless nature. He was a devout Christian, as well as, a member of the church and always humbled himself to his creator. Walking in the footsteps of Christ, he was tireless in his service to others and strove to set an example through his actions and character.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Sun Russell, his daughter, Christina Sun (Russell) Soto, and his son, Daniel Richard Russell, his mother Bernadine (Schneider) Fredell, older brother Gilbert Russell, twin brother Donald Russell, and youngest brother Charles Fredell. He also leaves behind three granddaughters, Morgan Elizabeth Hager, Audrey Noelle Hager, and Emilee Reney Soto.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 10, 2015 and services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Cook-Walden Capital Park Funeral Home on 14501 North Interstate-35 of Pflugerville, TX 78660. Committal services will follow with a presentation by the US Army at Cook-Walden Capital Park Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to New Life Pentecostal Church for all their support and prayers, along with family and friends who came to visit with Ron during his time at Seton Medical Center. We are also very thankful to all those who have faithfully continued to pray for Ron during his four year battle with cancer. Because of your love and support he remained strong all the way to the end.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that a memorial contribution be made to New Life Church of Austin, TX.
