Born to Gerald and Jimmie Rice, November 9th, 1938, Rosa lived a life defined by service, kindness, creativity, and a deep love for family and friends. She graduated from Alto High School and spent many years working in the automotive industry. During the 1970s, she worked at Killion Auto Sales and sold license plates for Williamson County. She later worked at automobile auctions in Pflugerville and Waco and served as a Title Clerk at Classic Auto in Round Rock.
While she held several jobs throughout her life, those who knew her best often described her as a "professional volunteer." She devoted countless hours to serving others and making her community a better place. A longtime member of First Baptist Church in Round Rock, she founded the church's Mother's Day Out program and volunteered with Friendship International. For more than twenty years, she and her friends from First Baptist Church prepared and served meals at the Cushing Center in Round Rock. She also hosted pizza parties for children at the Texas Baptist Children's Home, volunteered at Seton Hospital, and generously shared her talents decorating and creating crafts for countless events and celebrations.
Even while residing at San Gabriel Rehabilitation and Care Center, she remained active and involved. She helped with crafts and activities, served on the resident council, and helped establish a flower garden that brought beauty and joy to residents and visitors alike.
She had a gift for staying busy and embracing life to its fullest. Her late husband, Billy Joe, often joked that he needed an appointment to be penciled into her calendar because she was always involved in one activity or another. Whether it was bingo, dominoes, Farkle, Uno, or countless other games, she loved to play—and she especially loved to win. Her passion for games has been passed down to her great-grandchildren, who inherited both her competitive spirit and her love of fun.
She found joy in animals, flowers, gardening, ceramics, crafting, floral arranging, bow-making, and decorating for every occasion. She loved cooking, sharing meals with family and friends, and trying favorite foods from local restaurants. She also enjoyed camping and traveling and was blessed to visit Colorado, Hawaii, enjoy cruises, and travel in their motorhome.
More than anything, she cherished the people in her life. She was known for her kindness, generosity, caring heart, and ability to make friends wherever she went. Her family will especially miss the daily phone calls, visits, laughter, and countless memories they shared together.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Rice; her mother, Jimmie Rice; her husband, Billy Joe Killion; her daughter, Melinda Lee Killion; her brothers, Jerry Glen Rice and David Rice; her sister, Mildred; and numerous other beloved family members.
She is survived by her son, Michael Killion and wife Linda of Round Rock; grandson Nathaniel Killion and wife Anita of Round Rock, along with their children, Samuel and Emma; grandson Steven Killion and husband Jason Reynal of Spring, Texas; brother James Rice and wife Martha of Douglas, Texas; brother Jimmy Rice and wife Beverly of Nacogdoches, Texas; brother Terry Rice of Chireno, Texas; sister Joy Tomlinson and husband Tony of Allen, Texas; sister Shirley Ferguson and husband Donald of Nacogdoches, Texas; sister Cathy Gilbert and husband Jeff of Alto, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that she lived a full and meaningful life, dedicated to serving others, loving deeply, and embracing every opportunity for friendship, fellowship, and fun. Her legacy of kindness, faith, generosity, and joy will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
