

Rose was born in Hartford, Ohio on March 13, 1929, one of five children born to Peter and Nora Engel. She went to beauty school and then started her long career of making people happy and looking their best. She moved to Texas in 1958. She worked at Good Friends, Larry’s Coiffures, and a number of other salons in Austin. She loved being a beautician and worked for 50 years until her retirement in 2009. She loved to travel to visit her sisters and brothers and going on cruises with her late husband, Charles Jackson. Rose was a long-time member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Austin.
Rose is preceded in death by her sisters, Estelle Murphy and Elizabeth (Betty) Shingledecker and her brothers, Clint and Ed Engel. She is survived by her nephews, Daniel Shingledecker and wife Mary of Smithville; Paul Shingledecker and wife Lynell of Morgan’s Point Resort, TX; Chuck Engle and wife Connie of Port Orange, FL; and Ronnie Engel of Pennsylvania; and niece, Cheryl Evans and husband Dave of Illinois. She will also be remembered by her great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bastrop Lost Pines and Argent Court of Bastrop for all the loving care they gave to Rose.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
