Roxanne Monsisvais, beloved wife, mother, grammy, sister, and aunt, passed away on March 6, 2025, at the age of 69. She was born on March 30, 1955, in El Paso, Texas, to Cleo and Lenore Brooks. In 1980, she married the love of her life, Mario Monsisvais, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family.
A devoted mother, Roxanne’s world revolved around her children: Chris Spates, Josh Monsisvais, Monika Monsisvais, and Michael Monsisvais. She later moved to the Austin area to be closer to her kids and grandkids, who were the absolute light of her life. Her grandchildren—Jacob Spates and Eli Spates (Chris and Lisa Spates); Jackson Monsisvais, Sophia Monsisvais, and Emersyn Monsisvais (Josh and Lisa Monsisvais); Christina Monsisvais and Matthew Monsisvais (Michael and Elizabeth Monsisvais)—were her greatest joy, and she loved nothing more than spoiling them, sharing laughs, and creating cherished memories.
Roxanne had an unmatched sense of humor, always ready with a quick-witted remark, a warm hug, or a perfectly timed smart-ass comment that would leave everyone laughing. She had an incredible ability to make people feel loved and understood, and her presence filled every room with warmth. Her bond with her daughter, Monika, was one of a kind—they talked every day, and Roxanne took on the most rewarding “retirement job” of all: picking up Eli from school, with their favorite tradition being Dairy Queen Thursdays.
A true animal lover, Roxanne had a special gift for connecting with animals and leaves behind her beloved pups Canelo, Tessie, and Tater Tot. She was also Grammy to Monika’s dogs, Penny and Bella, who were completely obsessed with her. If there was ever an animal in need, Roxanne was the one to love and care for it.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Mario Monsisvais; her children and grandchildren; and her siblings, Joy Legate, Karen Enriquez, and Ronnie Brooks. She was an irreplaceable part of her family, always present to offer support, laughter, and unconditional love.
Roxanne was the best wife and mother anyone could ask for, taken too soon, but we are beyond grateful for the time we had with her. She leaves a huge hole in our family dynamic, but we know she will always be watching over us—our guardian angel. We look forward to the little signs and special messages she will send from heaven, making us smile and giggle just like she always did.
Her love was deep, her humor was unmatched, and her presence will be missed beyond measure. Rest easy, Roxie—we will carry you with us always.
A visitation for Roxanne will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
