

Ruben V Espinoza went home to his heavenly father January 1, 2018. He was 87 years old. Born in Lockhart, Texas on January 6,1930 to Nazario Espinoza and Candalaria Velasquez. He was raised by his loving grandmother Desileria Velasquez.
Bound and determined, he joined the Army at the age of 17 in January 1947. He served our country during the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart. Ruben went on to finish his military career in the Air Force and retired July 1967 at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas. He later went on to work for the University of Texas and retired in August 1993. He worked in numerous places to include Camp Mabry as a Security Guard until the age of 81.
He is survived by his sons Gilbert Cisneros, Ruben Espinoza Jr., Rodney Espinoza, Mark Espinoza, and Jeffrey Espinoza. As well as 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was loved by many.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Clemencia Hernandez and his son Ronald Earl Espinoza.
While serving our military, Ruben traveled to several counties like Germany, France and Spain. Ruben could be found in his spare time practicing his faith by reading the bible, taking photos of his grandchildren and watching Western movies. Taking trips to Lockhart to eat BBQ a tradition that has been passed on to the next generations. He loved his sons and grandchildren with all his heart. He was a great story teller and could make you laugh telling you the stories of his life. He will be forever missed. Till we meet again!
