“I am a proud child of God. Nothing I’ve ever done in my life comes close to being as important or rewarding as giving my life to Christ as a young girl, spending quality time with family, including my sons, daughters and grandchildren.”

Sadie Beatrice Goodman was born on July, 25, 1941 in Lockhart, Texas to Marlin and Matilda Houston. Sadie transitioned to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 in Pflugerville, Texas.

Sadie worked for many years as a paraprofessional of Denver Public Schools in Denver, Colorado. She was humbly grateful and excited about serving in the school system; education was something that she held very close to her kind and caring heart.

Sadie lived life to the absolute fullest. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing, shopping at flea markets or thrift stores, watching soap operas, attending any kind of family gathering, volunteering at churches and food banks to serve her community, and playing BINGO. She was most proud of motherhood; graduations, weddings, little league and high school sporting events, and anything involving her family; her kids' accomplishments brought her a sense of joy and pride. But above all, Sadie loved to witness the happiness and success of her children, grandchildren, and siblings; she was an extremely loyal, dedicated, loving and caring mother and grandmother who put family above everything else.

Sadie is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marcela and Naomi and her brother Aaron.

Memories of Sadie will be cherished by her children, daughter Sharon Posey; son Vincent Rush; daughter Jackie Rush; son Arlandis Rush; seven grandchildren, Kisha Forbes (Michael), Natasha Posey, Sean Posey, Tyrell Blackmon, Cheylin Rush, Chris Rogers, Tyrin Rush, seven great grandchildren; sisters, Elamme Ellison, Ester Abram, Della Jefferson (Jeff), Mary Williams and brothers Walter Houston and Robert Houston as well as many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be rendered on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate Highway 35, Pflugerville, Texas with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The committal service will immediately follow.

There's too many!! I used to curl up next to her in bed.... she'd say, "get out" sometimes but I paid her no mind and just started talking to her about EVERYTHING, asking her everything and we'd talk for hours. She smelled like garlic...lol. She'd eat raw garlic cloves, she knew long before others became woke how important raw vegetables are for our health. I remember her always knowing what I'd done before I'd had an opportunity to tell her. I remember not walking across the stage in high school because I'd gotten into a fight.... she was so hurt and disappointed. She also knew that I was hurting long before my graduation so she took it easy on me....I promised her she'd see me walk across my college stage and in 2009, my grandmother flew from Colorado to North Carolina Central University and saw me walk across the stage. I kept my promise.... we were more than grandmother and granddaughter, our souls connected... I'd call her and she'd be eating.... I'd guess exactly what she was eating... she'd say, "Oh my girl, how'd you know that??" I remember being at my summer youth program in 1999 - during the summer.... she called me and told me she'd had been diagnosed with diabetes.....I broke down like a baby...I preyed to God not to take her away from me. I didn't know it could be managed.... I've been keeping diaries since I was 9 years old, she read most of them...lol. She'd ak me questions and I knew she was getting it from them but part of me didn't mind, I wanted to share all my thoughts and secrets with her....I knew she could help me navigate those feelings. I have so many memories I'll hold onto forever. This was my heart, my bestfriend....I couldn't see her struggle, it broke me... but I'm glad I pushed myself to go see her finally rest. I love you GRAMMA and thank you for my second chance at life.

Homecoming Royalty. Mom was so happy that I'd won Homecoming Queen. She took me all the way to Aunt Naomi house the following day to take a picture with me the crown and flowers. I'm so blessed to have had her in my life for almost 54 years. Precious memories I will cherish forever.
