Sam Joseph Risica, age 89, of Pflugerville, Texas passed away on November 30, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, father Joe Risica, mother Rose Risica and wife of 35 years Mary Attal Risica.
Sam was born on October 5, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Breckenridge High School. After high school he worked as a butcher in his grandfather's grocery store. He later worked for
the US Postal service until his retirement in 1990. Sam was extremely proud of his Italian heritage, an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and he loved reminiscing about the "good old days" in San Antonio.
Sam was an old fashioned gentlemen who loved old cars, going dancing and out to eat with his wife Mary. His pride and joy was his old '64 Truck and his '62 Cadillac. Interesting story is that Sam had met Mary many years ago when Mary and her first husband
Joe rented an apartment in the back of Sam's parents house. Sam said he had never forgot that gorgeous Lebanese lady with the great laugh and pretty blue eyes.
Years later after Joe passed, Sam and Mary reconnected and enjoyed sharing memories about all the Italian folks from San Antonio that they both knew. Mary and Sam enjoyed taking trips back to San Antonio to visit his cousins and they truly loved all their family and friends.
Sadly Sam was diagnosed with dementia in April 2015 however he bravely fought this battle for the past 4 1/2 years before passing on November 30th. The day before he passed he asked for his wife Mary so we know now that they are joined back together in Heaven.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Tech Ridge Oaks Assisted living and memory care for their loving and compassionate care.
Sam is survived by step daughter Annette Rizzo and step son Anthony Rizzo. A Grave side service will be held on Sunday at 2pm on January 5th at Cook-Walden Capital Park Pflugerville, Texas.
