

Santiago Vasquez was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ on December 13, 2011, at the age of 82. Santiago was born in Shiner, Texas on March 16, 1929. Santiago (Jim) retired from the United States Air Force with over twenty years of Service. His final duty assignment from 1967 to 1971 was in the former divided city of Berlin, Germany. He was a resident of Austin, Texas since 1977 working at Texas Instruments until his retirement in 1994.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Frances Longoria Vasquez. He will be mourned by his children and their families; Jimmie and his wife Lucy of Houston, Texas, Judy and her husband Marc of Lausanne, Switzerland, Joseph of Austin, Texas, Jennifer of Annapolis, Maryland, and David of Gonzalez, Texas. Santiago rests comfortably in the loving memory of his many brilliant grandchildren. He will join in heaven his brothers William and Julius (both of whom served with distinction in World War 2), and his sister Beatrice. He will be missed by his sisters Rose, Elisa, and Mary.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation to be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to one of Santiago’s favorite charities: Smile Train at P.O. Box 96231, Washington, DC 20090-6231.
