Sarah was born on August 17, 1925 to Clyde and Wilma Millican in Albertville, Alabama. She completed high school at Albertville High School and entered Perry Business School, graduating in 1944. She met Dr. Erston Cox when he opened his veterinary practice in Albertville and they were married on April 21, 1946. Dr. Cox, retired from the federal government after serving Texas as Federal Veterinarian in Charge of Animal Health, passed away on March 1, 1998, two years following their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Sarah loved flowers and gardening and was a long-time member of Austin's Violet Crown Garden Club. She and 'Doc' were avid sports fans and held season UT Longhorn basketball tickets until Doc's death. They enjoyed bowling and were members of a local bowling league, and in earlier years had discovered the fun of square dancing. Whether going antiquing or traveling, Sarah and Doc gloried in their time together and shared their great love with their family. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Austin for many years.
Sarah is survived by daughter Charlotte and son-in-law Cary Kipp of Austin, daughter Carolyn and son-in-law Bob Garcia of Pueblo, Colorado, and daughter Barbara and her husband Ron Webb of Dallas, Texas.
