Sharon Kay Hoyt, 72, of Killeen, TX passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2025. She was born in Louisiana on March 15, 1953. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and joy. To have known her, even for a brief moment, left you with a smile and probably a chuckle.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 32 years, Paul Hoyt, Jr. They spent these years building an amazing life together that created a bond, a friendship, and a love stronger than either of them ever expected. No matter what challenges or celebrations they faced, they did it together while holding hands.
Sharon is also survived by her daughters, Christina Sheff and Pamela James. These ladies were her miracles and loves of her heart. They also blessed Sharon with son-in-laws, Trent Cornine and Shane Sheff; as well as 4 fabulous grandchildren, Allie Cornine, Charly VanWinkle, Serena Sheff, and Jaxson Sheff.
Sharon is survived by her sisters Linda Broadway and Velva Baum. She shared many memories of growing up with her sisters and treasured their friendships in adulthood.
Sharon was blessed with and leaves behind many extended family as well, including Don and Gina Hoyt, Wayne and Nina James, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There are so many wonderful things to share about Sharon. When her daughters were young she was a stay at home mom. She did crafts and painted pictures, sewed clothes for the girls and also sewed for interior designers. She even had a store for a short amount of time. Later she started working in a credit union and even took college classes. She was almost finished with college when she started working in the mortgage industry and started traveling with her sister Linda, who also worked in the industry. Linda took her under her wing and taught her all the things she needed to flourish and bloom!
Regardless of where her jobs took her, she was never too far away from her family! She still made it to every event, and was usually in the front row clapping the loudest. She made it to the birth of all 4 grandchildren; events that she cherished so very much! And those 4 babies were her world! Nothing filled her heart with more joy than spending time with the littles. They made stepping stones for the yard, bird houses, and of course “dug in the dirt” to plant flowers every year. Sometimes the big kids got to help too!
Sharon loved the color red, sunflowers, hummingbirds, birdhouses, and dragon flies (butterflies with attitude). She loved playing games including atari (are you old enough to remember this?), nintendo (she was a tetris queen), and eventually all sorts of games on her smart phone! Sharon and Paul loved playing games where they got to compete with each other! It was fun to listen to them play!
Sharon was a Christian woman who believed in God and Jesus. Though her physical presence is gone, the legacy she leaves - of faith, love, and joy - will live on in all of us who had the honor of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life for Sharon is currently being planned. We will share those details once they are finalized.
