Shuyee was born on February 17, 1958 in Taitung, Taiwan to Tzu-yu Lee and Shou-tau Chen. He was the 2nd of 3 sons. He served as a paratrooper in the Taiwan’s special forces from 1980 to 1982. Shuyee married his loving wife, Chiuping on June 5, 1983 and eventually had two children, Jenny and Steven. To give his children a better opportunity, he moved to America to pursue his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah. Upon completion of his PhD in 1990, he worked for nearly 3 decades as a process control engineer.
His work took him all over the world, to Europe, to China, and eventually to Saudi Arabia. He loved to fish, sing karaoke and dance, play (and win at) mahjong, and play (and sometimes win at) the stock market. Above all, he loved doing all of these activities with his family and friends. He was a dedicated husband and father, always acting selflessly to provide for his family, and he was also a cheerful friend with a great sense of humor, making jokes until his last breath. Well-respected by his peers and loved by his family and friends, Shuyee will leave a lasting memory in each of us.
He is preceded in death by his father, Tzu-Yu. He is survived by his mother, Shou-tan Chen, wife, Chiuping, brothers, Shu-Fan and Shu-Ren, two children, Jenny and Steven, son-in-law, James, grandson, Noah and beloved dog, Teddy.
