Sonja Ann Walters, age 61, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in Round Rock, Texas. Sonja was born on February 6, 1959 in Noblesville, Indiana to the late Danny Lee Watts and Betty Lou (Campbell) Watts.
She met the love of her life, Virgil Walters, Jr., in Odessa Texas and they married on January 28, 1983. Sonja was employed as a School Bus Monitor with Round Rock ISD. She was a caring, loving and truly remarkable woman who served as a loving wife, mother and meme to her 5 grandchildren, as well as a committed friend to so many. She will be forever remembered for her true, one of a kind personality that was filled with laughter, generosity and tenacity. She was passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren, as well as her church and her relationship with Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 37 years Virgil Walters, Jr.; two daughters, Ashley Schneider (Jesus) and Courtney Hartmann (Aaron); her three brothers, Randy Watts, Rick Watts, and Rocky Watts (Debbie); five grandchildren, Gracy Nevaeh, Landry Hope, Braylon Mitchell, Honor Elizabeth, and Hayven Skye; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and a multitude of friends. Sonja was preceded in death by her parents, Danny Lee and Betty Lou Watts; her siblings, Donna Wilson and Russell Watts; and her mother-in-law, Elfriede Walters.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Round Rock Church of Christ, 1200 North Georgetown Street, Round Rock, Texas 78664 with Pastor Justin Gergardt officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:30 p.m. at Round Rock Church of Christ.
