Steve was born on September 5, 1974, in Elmira, New York. He graduated from Corning-Painted Post West High School in 1992. Steve met the love of his life, Stacey, in high school during a production of the musical 42nd Street, a moment that sparked a lifelong passion for theater. He graduated from Colorado State University in May 1997 with a degree in Natural Resources Management. He started working in technical theater on campus at the Fort Collins Center for the Performing Arts and the Aspen Summer Arts Festival. He then spent a year touring with Victor/Victoria. Steve was the Production Stage Manager for the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet and toured the world with their performances from 1999-2011. In 2010, he began transitioning to Technical Director at Ballet Austin, where he worked with dedication until his passing.
After reconnecting in 2008, Steve and Stacey traveled to Taos, Aspen, New York City, and Italy on their first four dates. They were engaged on a mountaintop in Aspen on December 30, 2011, and then were married on a beach in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, on April 27, 2013. They welcomed their son, Parker, on August 10, 2014. The three of them enjoyed traveling, hiking, and visiting national parks.
Steve was known for his generosity and his willingness to help anyone without hesitation or expectation of recognition. He enjoyed food and culinary exploration—he was a fantastic cook who shared his love through meals and acts of service. He loved snowboarding, scuba diving, disc golf, woodworking, building physical representations of his creativity, comedy, and—most of all—dad jokes. Steve was passionate about the arts and poured himself into every production he worked on. Children were naturally drawn to his warmth and humor; he had a gift for making them feel seen, heard, and endlessly entertained.
He is survived by his wife, Stacey Bryant Myers; his son Parker Bryant Myers; his mother Patricia (Pat) Elaine Elliot; his father Ronald (Ron) Eugene Myers (Sherry); brother Jason Myers (Heaven); his aunt, Patricia Myers; loving in-laws; and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents and his Aunt Barbara Marte.
A celebration of life will be held on June 28, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Ballet Austin. In honor of Steve’s love for his family and the arts, donations may be made to Parker’s college fund https://tinyurl.com/ParkerMyers (code = 73M-57A) or the David T Siever Theater Scholarship Endowment at Colorado State University https://tinyurl.com/StevenMyers
