

Mattie Sue Pickett Leigh (100) passed peacefully from this life to be with her Lord and Savior and join her beloved husband, Mack, on March 11, 2016. Sue was born in Kirbyville, TX on April 2, 1915 and grew up in Silsbee, Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston State Teachers College, August 1937, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education.
Sue loved her family, church, working with children and music. She continued reading her Bible daily until her passing. She was an accomplished pianist who loved playing the piano for friends and family. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Round Rock for many years where she was the pianist and taught in the children’s ministry department.
Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Mack F. Leigh, her parents, Martha and Thomas Pickett, and her brother Virgil Chance.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Martha Leigh of Austin, TX; son Mack F. Leigh, Jr. and wife Marsha of Rosenberg, TX. Grandchildren Heather Lynch and husband Nathan of Richmond, TX; and Jonathan Leigh of Rosenberg, TX. and her most beloved Great–granddaughter Lauren Lynch of Richmond, TX.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation of Duval for their tender love and care during the last several years of Sue’s life.
