In the morning of May 4, 2022 Sun Joo Hahn passed away at age of 84. Sun was surrounded by her husband, Yong and her three children Rachel, James, and Geoff; her son-in-law, Salvador and her daughter-in-law, Jeanine also Pastor Kim from Round Rock Presbyterian Church when passing this life and then later was joined by three of her granddaughters, Jackie, Megan and Claire.
She will be greatly missed as a wife, mother and grandmother and by all the people she touched being a pastors wife and as an ordained missionary.
Sun was born on July 25, 1937 in Pyongyang, North Korea, the daughter of Lee Dong Kun and mother Chae Byung Sun. During the Korean War, she and her mother walked for twenty days to escape from North to South Korea, when she was just thirteen years old.
Sun married Yong S. Hahn on May 21, 1960 and they had three children, Rachel, James and Geoff. On December 1, 1971, Sun and her three children, along with her mother Byung Sun, immigrated to the United States, and lived in Tampa, Florida. In 1980, Yong was ordained as a Pastor in the Assembly of God Church and they moved to Dallas, Texas. She was a very beautiful and special person and she helped and touched so many lives during her and her husband’s work in the ministry.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Yong; her children, Rachel, James and Geoff; son-in-law, Salvador; daughters-in-law, Jeanine and Christine; and her grandchildren, Jacqueline, Megan, Claire, Chloe and Audrey.
A visitation for Sun Joo will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
