

Sun So Yi, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his home in Jonestown, TX, surrounded by his loving family. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Sun So was born June 18, 1930 in Hwanghae-Do Province in North Korea to Yong-sik Yi and Yee-ja Rim.
Sergeant Sun So escaped to South Korea in 1951 where he found refuge and joined the Hwanghae-Do Independent Military Group that later became the South Korean Army. South Korea is where he considers his home and where he met his beautiful wife and began his family.
Sun So moved to the U.S. in 1981 with his family and lived most of his life in Round Rock, TX. He loved to spend time with family and friends, fish and especially garden. If you couldn’t find him in his house, you knew that he was tending to his beautiful garden. He was proud to provide fresh peppers, cucumbers and green onions for his family to enjoy.
Sun So is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Un-sun So; son Sung (Sook Young) and daughters Chun Hwa (Don) Agnew; Choon Sil (Eric) Taylor; Choon Jung (Jon) Detjen; and Choon Mi (John) Lee; grandchildren: Cynthia (Garrett) Morgan; Crystal (Jacob) Stevenson; Kory Taylor; Aaron and Michael Detjen; Sean and Michelle Yi and two great-grandchildren: Peyton Morgan and Alice Stevenson.
Visitation will be held from 7pm-9pm, Sunday, June 12 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville.
The celebration of his life will be at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville, Monday, June 13, 2016 from 1pm-3pm.
