Tommy attended Permian High School in Odessa, Texas, and after moving to Austin, Texas, in 1989, he began working for Southwestern Bell, now AT&T. He worked for the company for over thirty-one years, first as a customer service rep, and then after a year, he became a telephone lineman/service technician, a job he excelled at and loved.
Tommy loved all things outdoors: working, grilling, floating down the river, and going to South Padre with his daughter. He was a passionate football fan and loved the Permian Panthers, the Texas Longhorns, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of Grace Pentecostal Church and Communications Workers of America Local 6132. He was also a proud member of AA, and after experiencing recovery and a spiritual awakening himself, he gladly led meetings and sponsored others and supported them on their journey to sobriety. Tommy had a big heart for people and sought to encourage others and to help those in need.
Tommy is survived by his daughter, Madison Celey, of Round Rock, TX, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his parents, Wayland and Cecelia Wampler, of Pflugerville, TX; his stepmother, Teresa Celey, of Hutto TX; his grandmother, Cleta Celey, of Amarillo, TX; his brothers, Johnny Celey and wife, Julie, of Cedar Park, TX; Brent Wampler and wife, Cindra, of Frisco, TX; Shane Wampler of Taylor, TX; Cameron Wampler of Colony, TX; and Chance Henson of Round Rock, TX; his sister Randi Barr and husband Carson; his uncle and dear friend, Clay Kirksey, of Austin, TX; and by many other aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Billy Celey; his grandparents, Earl and Cecile Kirksey; his grandfather, Bill Celey; and his grandparents, Irvin and Addie Wampler.
