Tom was more than just a friend. He was a part of our family and no one will ever fill his chair at the table. He was the first person I got to know, when we moved to Austin, in 1976. He was our neighbor but quickly became our friend and confidant. We shared happiness and heartbreak and endured life's most difficult challenges. I will never forget the many briskets we smoked and the many tears we cried together. He was the kindest, most considerate man I have ever known. Even when we disagreed - sometimes ademantly, we never stopped being friends and always respected each other. It has always amazed me that so many people relied on him and that he asked so little in return. I will miss him tremendously but he gave me so many great memories that I will never forget him.

How sad I was when I learned today of Tom's passing. I worked with both he and Irene years ago and they are both bright spots in my memories. Wonderful colleagues, both of them. Sending warm thoughts winging towards their souls.

Tom and I worked together for a number of years. I clearly remember the happy time when he and Irene were married. I never met his children but, knowing Tom, he was a great father and grandfather who will be missed.
