Thomas Murray Sisson II, age 53, went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by the family and friends that Tom had touched deeply throughout his memorable life. He battled cancer with courage and dignity without losing his hilarious sense of humor.
Tom was born in Houston, Texas on February 1, 1961, to T. Murray and Carry Sisson. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas, before attending Stephen F. Austin State University. Tom worked as a commercial glass estimator for many years and was employed by Anchor-Ventana before becoming ill. Tom Sisson’s laughter was infectious and witty remarks were never in short supply. He was known for many things, including his amazing gardening skills for which he won “yard of the month.” He enjoyed cooking and baking and became well known for his wonderful cheesecakes. He had a creative ability to craft something beautiful out of wood or metal and was capable of fixing anything. From him, we have learned the value of hard work, determination, and to never give up.
Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, John C. Sisson, Sr. and wife Helen, Harry H. Murphy and wife Helen; and his uncle, John Crandell Sisson, Jr. Tom leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his “everything,” Tina King; his three children, Krystal Sisson, Travis Sisson, and Trevor Sisson; his stepson, Mike King and wife Cadie; his grandchildren, Gibson Valdez, Gavyn Vela, and Travis Sisson, II; his parents, Thomas Murray Sisson and wife Carry; his sisters, Teresa Landers, Tina Mabry and husband John, Tracy Collazo and husband Jack; his nieces, Paige and Parker Plato and Alexx and Avery Collazo. He also leaves behind many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice Austin, a non-profit organization. The family of Tom Sisson wishes to thank Hospice Austin and Texas Oncology for their compassion.
