Tommy was born in Cushing, Texas, on December 21, 1937 and grew up in Jacksonville, Texas. This was where he met the love of his life, Joyce Goldsberry, and they married May 29, 1957 and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Upon marrying, they hopped in a ’49 Ford and headed south to Austin, Texas, where they made a home and started their family. Tommy attended The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with his Bachelors and Masters degree in Physics. He began his career at Applied Research Laboratories, going on to work for NATO and the Navy at The Pentagon as an acoustician specializing in Sonar. They had two sons, Robert Alan Goldsberry and Stephen Lee Goldsberry. While Austin was always their home base, life’s adventures also took them to Louisiana, Mississippi, Virginia, and Italy.
Tommy was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a man of great faith and generosity. He supported numerous ministries and blessed all whom he encountered. He had a deep love and reverence for Jesus. He enjoyed traveling with Joyce, spending time with family, and he was a lifelong Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboys fan.
He is preceded to Heaven by his wife, Joyce Marie Goldsberry, mother and father, Vercie Williamson Goldsberry and Robert Alfred Goldsberry, and son, Stephen Lee Goldsberry.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-love, Robert (Alan) Goldsberry and Jeanie Ann Goldsberry, and his grandchildren Joe Don Goldsberry and wife, JoEllen Goldsberry, Robert (Bobby) Lee Goldsberry and wife Lauren Goldsberry, Glenn Goldsberry and Katelyn Goldsberry and his great-grandchildren, Madison Rebecca Goldsberry, Ethan Jackson Goldsberry, Everett Emerson Goldsberry, and Makenna Hope Goldsberry.
His life will be forever cherished in the hearts of those who love him. We find great joy and peace knowing that we will be reunited with him in Heaven, and we do not mourn as those who have no hope (1 Thess 4:13).
A graveside service for Tommy will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
