Travis Lynn McCrary

Travis was intellectually disabled from early childhood, but his disability never defined the person he was. Travis will be remembered for his loving heart, joyful spirit, and his special ability to make a connection with just about anyone. He truly never met a stranger.

Travis loved to talk, laugh, sing, and tell his stories. One of his favorite things to talk about was driving an 18-wheeler loaded with wood down to Austin. And in Travis's story, that 18-wheeler was always red - his favorite color. If you spent any time around Travis, chances are you heard about that big red truck more than once. He would tell the story with the same excitement and enthusiasm every time, and it became one of the many things that made Travis uniquely Travis.

Music brought Travis great joy. He loved to sing, and George Strait was his favorite.

When Travis was happy, you knew it. His smile, laughter, singiier, and personality could light up a room.

Travis also loved being helpful. Whether it was a small task around the house or simply believing that somebody needed his assistance, he wanted to lend a hand. Helping made Travis feel good, and being included meant the world to him.

There was an innocence and sincerity about Travis that made him special. He didn't need much to find happiness. A conversation, a song, a familiar face, a chance to help someone, or a good story to tell could brighten his entire day. And in return, Travis brightened the lives of the people around him.

Travis was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, an aunt, four uncles, and two cousins.

He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Roy McCrary Sr.; his mother, Joyce McCrary-Olson; his brother, Roy McCrary Jr.; his sister, Rachelle Smith; three nieces; five nephews; two great-nephews; one great-niece; an aunt; two uncles; many cousins; and numerous other family members and friends whose lives were touched by Travis.

A Memorial Service will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660, on September 13, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
