Tyler attended Will Davis Elementary and was a happy, active child. He participated in the beloved Turkey Trot annually and the run-loving program, Marathon Kids. Tyler transitioned to Murchison Middle School. He played football and percussion in the band. He was an overconfident skinny kid that laced up his cleats and played with a ton of heart. Tyler often proclaimed fondly into adulthood that he was a “B Team All- American” for the Matadors. Tyler attended L.C. Anderson High School in 2009. He had many friends and joined in all the spirited fun. He eventually migrated over to Garza Independence High School to continue the pursuit of his diploma. Dr. Linda Webb interviewed Tyler and welcomed him to her campus. He blossomed there and had a new energy as he progressed through his courses while being a strong student. He gravitated to the diverse students and expanded his sense of identity via the community-based opportunities that were a new requirement there. Tyler graduated from Garza on June 4th, 2014, at the Frank Erwin Center. He was surrounded by family, love, and the support from Audrei Polo Glick, Anderson High School English Teacher and Sammi Harrison, Anderson High School Assistant Principal. All were present to see the completion of his long journey. He graduated with pride and purpose.
Tyler’s ambition fueled a move to North Carolina in 2016 to pursue an associate’s degree in Diesel Mechanics at Davidson County Community College located in Lexington. While in school, he had an opportunity to observe and work alongside James Strickland of Strickland Performance in his custom motorcycle shop. He thrived on the shiny and sleek creations that he had the opportunity to see come to life through dedicated teamwork. Tyler loved motorcycles and his thrill-seeking behavior was ever-present in his passion to ride and to find his peace in the wind, going far and fast.
Tyler was immensely committed to his personal relationships. He put family first and had a sincere devotion to those he loved. He cared deeply, loved fiercely and always stood in for and by his family and friends with unwavering support. Tyler was a generous giver. He gave more than he asked for and never turned anyone away. He was there to provide a laugh, a shoulder, a different perspective and a guaranteed good time. Tyler will forever be remembered, not simply for the life he lived, but for the love he gave. His legacy is his strength, his loyalty and his heart.
