

Vernese Foster was born to Thornton and Irene (Fowler) Nichols on March 27, 1926 in Travis County.
Vernese attended Olive Street, L.L. Campbell Elementary, Kealing Jr. High and the Original L.C. Anderson graduating in 1946. She completed her education (cum laude) from Huston-Tillotson College on May 26, 1958.
She taught for twenty-seven years in the Austin Independent School District at L.L. Campbell and Pleasant Hill Elementary, in which she left an impact of life long relationships with many teachers and students.
Vernese married the love of her life, Fred Douglas Foster, on May 4, 1949 and to this union three children were born; Donald Louis, Ronald Douglas (deceased) and Janice Mae. They were married for forty-eight years.
Knowing that there is only one path to salvation, Vernese accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at fourteen years old and was baptized by Rev. John Bell at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member of this church for over eighty years. She served in many capacities at the church; as a Sunday school teacher, Baptist Training Union teacher, deaconess, nurse board and Mission I.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, grandson, great grandson and three sisters.
Left to forever cherish her memories are: her son, Donald (Brenda) of Austin, TX; her daughter Janice (Daniel) of Manor, TX; her grandchildren, Dr. Derrick Foster of San Antonio, TX, Ashely L. Glaze (Willie) of Atlanta, GA, Alexus Foster of Mableton, GA and Christopher Foster of Atlanta, GA; her daughter-in-law, Cathy Foster of Mableton, GA; her brother-in-law, Lawrence Foster of San Antonio, TX; as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
The celebration of her life will be on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 4301 Tannehill Lane, Austin, TX 78721. The family will accept guests for her visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville TX, 78660. Her committal service will immediately follow her celebration of life service on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
